** crap box ** the electronic knights pack series issue 15 * compiled and code by bifat * music okeanos * gfx nero back from the nordlicht and deadline parties with fresh releases! ... nordlicht was a 4 days event in bremen including lots of music acts, bbq, and long stretches of just hanging around, chatting, creativity ... an especially well-rounded affair and in fact one of the best parties in germany. but as with many parties on the decline, there was no real sleeping area, and as usual some specialists can't resist their urge to make silly noise on the big PA during the whole night until dawn and beyond, rendering most attempts to sleep futile. are all people staying in hotels nowadays? I have never wasted money on a hotel when I visited a demoparty, and I'm not planning to do so. a few hours chill-out or a somewhat silent sleeping area is not just some folklore, but a necessity for the most hardcore of partygoers. without it the concept of a demoparty is void... fair or exhibition would be more fitting terms then. but ok, as long as I can sleep some stretches of 20 minutes each under the table, not all hope is lost. similar problem with deafline in berlin, which is a 15 minutes drive from my quarter... so I don't have to stay there for getting some rest, which would've been a hopeless idea to begin with - with an extremely loud and bassy PA, usb stick flipping acts playing medleys of mostly get-out material, and no sleeping area either. deadline has more problems, as main orga v3nom repeatedly throws out people due to his ideological or mental problems. happened to me and others. so effort spent in this venue is potentially wasted, and I can't go on supporting it with time-intensive help, invitations, or releases... ofcoz that won't keep me from having some beers there, inside or outside. and I was meeting some old TEK members this time. degauss, iraner and I (and others) are an old bunch from the same town. iraner and I started demo coding on the amiga more or less on the same day, with iraner having an edge from coding logo movers and scrollers on the c64 before. so after some weeks as a graphician it became evident (by the spring of 1991) that coding was much more fun and the better job for me... greetings to the usual suspects and special greetings to dissident, henne, tin, virgill, wysiwtf, losso, lj, ... and all the otters. wrap
